The Wisdom of the Heart
When we think February, we think valentines, love and hearts. However, the heart comes up on a daily basis for me in my work with clients. Just this week in talking with one client about how she was able to do something amazing, I commented it was from her heart. She put both hands on her chest as if grabbing for her heart and said, “Yes, it all comes from my heart!”
But the heart is actually just another organ in the body, functioning to keep it alive. It beats 70 to 100 beats per minute, nonstop throughout our lives.
Why do we place our hands over our hearts to make a pledge or when something is deeply touching? It is the center of our being. It holds so much. Wisdom, love, people. Sometimes something “warms our hearts”.
How is this possible? How do we know to place our hand on our heart?
I believe that it is where our real wisdom is held. The wisdom of the mind is useful, of course, when we can keep it from becoming too cluttered with anxiety. The heart is protected from that. Tapping into the wisdom of the heart will reveal to you things you will never know if you just use the thinking of your mind.
You can do this simply by quietly listening to your heart and taking the time to understand the difference. Give it a try this February and you will discover some wisdom of the heart you never knew you had, waiting to make a difference in your life!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
